Born in Cuba in 1904, Leopoldo Fernández is one of Latin America’s most influential performers. Although he worked extensively in theater, his most successful series was La Tremenda Corte, a radio and then television show, launched in 1941. When Fidel Castro came to power in 1959, Fernández was exiled to Miami where he continued performing until his death in 1985.
