2024/2025 Season of Plays

Las Cosas Extraordinarias

(Every Brilliant Thing)

by Duncan McMillan

September 12-22, 2024

You’re six years old. Mum’s in hospital. Dad says she’s “done something stupid.” She finds it hard to be happy. So you start to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world. Everything that’s worth living for. 1. Ice cream. 2. Kung Fu movies. 3. Burning things. 4. Laughing so hard you shoot milk out your nose. 5. Construction cranes. 6. Me. You leave it on her pillow. You know she’s read it because she’s corrected your spelling. Soon, the list will take on a life of its own. A play about depression and the lengths we will go to for those we love.

Tres Patines y La Tremenda Corte

October 17-27, 2024

Adapted by Francis Parra

Along their journey, they encounter Santa Claus, The Three Wise Men, and La Vieja Belén - a legendary figure from the Dominican Republic. La Cuesta Mágica is a magical holiday musical with songs and dances from Latin America that is perfect for the whole family.

Yo soy Minerva

(I am Minerva)

by Mu-Kien Adriana Sang

March 6-16, 2025

Minerva Mirabal, a pivotal figure in the Dominican Republic's history, led a courageous fight against the brutal dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo in the mid-20th century. Alongside her sisters, Patria and María Teresa, she formed part of the underground opposition movement against Trujillo's oppressive regime.  This production brings the tenacious fight of the strong women to the stage.

La Dama Boba

by Lope de Vega

May 15-25, 2025

La Dama Boba, a 400 year-old masterpiece from Spain’s Golden Age, is a wry, gender-defying comedy about two sisters engaged to marry but in love with the same man; one sister is educated and the other, silly. To compensate for her simpleness, the Lady "Simpleton" has the larger dowry which attracts the attention of her sister's fiancé, a poor nobleman. When the two suitors arrange to exchange prospective wives, chaos prevails. Yet the "silly" lady turns out not to be so simple after all.  Lope de Vega is one of Spain’s most prolific writers. He is only second to Cervantes in his importance during the Golden Age of Spanish literature.
